Travel Diaries: London Day 3

Day 3

I had my second, and last, show today which was even better than the first. This show was intense though, but in the best way possible. I got to work on two curly hair models and the first was a simple natural look with the hair parted then styled to stay tucked back behind the ears. The second was supposed to be a smooth slick back style. But the model had many previous mini puffs in her hair that took forever to take out. So when it was finally time to start styling her, we only had 20 minutes... yeah talk about stress. Her beautiful thick tightly coiled hair couldn’t even be combed through let alone straightened. So went and grabbed a team lead and she assessed the situation and decided to spray a boatload of Control Force on the front section and hairline, the take thin lace-like fabric and hold down the hair. Then I assisted in drying the hair while she kept lots of pressure on the fabric to keep it flat. While all of that was going on the model was also getting her makeup done. So just imagine 4-5 people surrounding one model trying not to get in each other’s way. It was a chaotic balancing act of stress and precision; and loved every minute of it. In the end the model was complete, not exactly in the way she probably intended but we got it done as a team as she looked amazing as she walked.
