14 Months Natural Update

Happy spring everyone!

 To celebrate the coming of the sun, I straightened my natural hair for the 2nd time this year! The last time was in January on my 1 year natural mark, but now I am at the 14th month mark and am loving how my hair has grown. I have learned that the top half of my head grows faster than the bottom half. Hair typically grows 1/2'' each month. That means that I should have 1'' of new growth, which I think is about right - for the top at least. So my even though my hair doesn’t look like it got longer, it really did (and thicker too)! And I am totally happy with my results since I love thick, healthy hair.

One Year Post Keratin Treatment (relaxer) Update!!

Today is my one year post relaxer anniversary! As a gift to myself, I straightened my hair! It has been four months since I straightened my hair last. I cannot believe it has been that long, wow! 

Okay, back to the update! Yes, I LOVE my straight hair! It's so amazing how versatile natural hair is! One day I can be rockin an afro, and the next day (with a lot of time spent with the flat iron..) I can have straight hair!

Over the past year my thoughts about my hair have changed. This summer, I never had my hair relaxed (Keratin Treatment), which was only because It was hot and just didn't want to have my hair straightened. But as the year progressed I saw my little curls and fell in love! Thus...the beginning of my journey back to my natural hair! No, big dramatic story of my hair falling out, just me realizing that I was hiding my beautiful curls. 

My hair has grown to shoulder length in one year! My next goal: ARMPIT LENGTH!!

My Natural Hair Journey (Sept - Dec '12)

This was Sep 27,  right after my first mini chop!

I dyed the back of my hair a golden blonde in Nov.

Afro is gettin a bit bigger! I loved my hair on this day! 

My curls! Still a lot of straight ends, but we're getting real close to being all natural!
